EP Review: ‘Butterflies’ by All Time Low

Recently, I’ve started to go back to bands I used to listen to in middle school, with All Time Low being one of them. They made hits such as “Dear Maria, Count Me In,” “Monsters (feat. blackbear),” and “Weightless.” One of their most recent releases is their 2025 EP, Butterflies, which was a precursor to their new album, Everyone's Talking! I decided to do a review of this EP to determine if it succeeds at intriguing the audience and making them want to listen to the full album. So, let me get right into my rankings:

Butterflies: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

I really enjoyed this track. I love how you go straight into it and it almost catches you off guard. The energy was great and is exactly what I would expect from All Time Low. I think what I enjoyed most about this song was the message behind it. This track is all about realizing a relationship is transactional and letting go of one sided friends and false hopes. I think they conveyed this message wonderfully in their lyrics. Overall, this is a great way to start an album.

The Weather: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

This is the most popular song off of this EP, and I can see why. “The Weather” is a breakup song but not one you would expect. Breakup songs I find are typically slow, gloomy, and emotional. With this, it manages to capture the emotion of a breakup without sounding like your typical breakup song. The lyric, "don't want to talk about the weather" talks about the superficial conversation used to avoid the deeper, more painful topics like a breakup. I feel that this is a very relatable song for a lot of people. The instrumentals were wonderful as well. It was an easy listen and it wasn’t too intense.

Oh No! : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I think what I enjoy most about this song is how upbeat and catchy it is. I can see this getting stuck in my head for hours for sure. “Oh No!” is about personal growth and the fear that personal happiness will make you less interesting. I think this is a really interesting theme to explore but I am here for it. I love the delivery in this track and honestly, I just love everything about it. 

SUCKERPUNCH: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“SUCKERPUNCH” was such a surprise to me. The first 3 songs set a vibe and I feel that this track threw me off, but in the best way possible. The intro got me hooked and I immediately knew that it was going to be my favorite song off the EP. This song is about resilience and enduring hardship, and the energy put into it all delivers that message SO well. I thought the instrumentals were punchy and strong and the vocals were just as perfect. I really have no complaints about it. 

Overall Thoughts

Butterflies by All Time Low is definitely worth a listen. Better yet, go listen to the full album: Everyone’s Talking! I know I definitely will after hearing the EP. So, with that being said, I believe it did its job in making me want to listen to the rest of the album. Overall, I would give this EP 5 stars, which is rare for me to do. All Time Low has truly surprised me and surpassed my expectations. I can’t wait to hear more of the album and am excited to see what else they can create.
